Busy Road Menace

The traffic in the valley has gone so wild that it has become one of the major problems of the capital. There is no particular department to be blamed for this but every one is involved in menacing these roads in the Kathmandu valley. The transportation department, the road department, the drivers, the automobile importers and manufacturers, the pedestrians, the street vendors, the number of vehicles and so many other factors form up a mould in this fault. Not forgetting the less trained traffic officers and the signals as well. This creates a lot of tension and irritation in the valley which results in some disastrous road accidents. To add more problems to this, the noise pollution, dust and garbage is always there. The roads are not sufficient and the capacity of the roads isn’t enough for the number of vehicles that run around. There has been no law till date to scrap the old and out of condition vehicles and they still run on the busy roads of the valley. This road menace has been the biggest problem in the capital and could bring more problems unless acted very soon.

Traffic as we all hate it, couldn't be avoided even if we try to discipline our selves because there will always be reckless drivers out there, bad traffic systems and no-discipline pedestrian. Lately with the increasing fuel prices problems, I have found that using the metro (train) could be convenient (less traffic) and cheap rather than burning $4 of gasoline daily and most of the time, getting stuck in traffic.
