The Piligrim

The Piligrim is the English version of a poem written by the great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota. This is the poem that changed my attitude towards worshipping God. Though the translation has been good it is not that successful in bringing the main theme and inspiration of the poem. The poem appeals to all those devotees going to the temples with a fake devotion not to go to the temples and help those who are desperately in need of help instead. You get the real happiness when you can help someone. Yes it is true that if you can bring out a smile in anyone’s face that is bliss. You don’t need to go to the temples to get excuses for your wrong deeds but if only you do good to others God would be watching you. The greatest of all the poems I have ever read and this has brought a lot of changes in me.
