Politics

Politics has always been a very complicated subject matter for me. Politics for me is beyond my capability as politics is always a dirty game for me. To add more stress on my definition on politics the current political situation here in Nepal has contributed very well. Every nation has their own political environment but the poor nations are more adversely affected by politics. In the context of Nepal there has been no good leader till date. The only seducible factor for all those politicians has been the parliamentary seat and all those privileges which the member of the parliament get.

There used to be two major political parties until recently the parties are mushrooming. The two major parties were The Congress and The Communist which were Nepali Congress and the Nepal Communist Party in nepali respectively. The Congress are those who believe in Capitalism and the other believe in communism. The Congress was led by Late. B.P. Koirala probably inspired by the neighboring country India and the Communist was led by Late Gangal Lal Shrestha perhaps inspired by China we should say.

The love for the parliamentary seat in the government led those big parties break into two perhaps more than two in some cases. The Congress broke into two parts and so did the Communist. A new political party came into existence which was name National Democratic Party which was led by Surya Bahadur Thapa. On seeing this scene many other opportunists followed this pattern and started forming their own political party.

Nepal had a constitutional monarchy. After the royal massacre of the royal family which killed King Birendra, Queen Aishworya, Crown Prince Dipendra, Crown Prince Nirajan and Crown Princess Shruti brought the nation into chaos. This massacre came out to be a turning point in the Nepali Political Scenario. The general public was not ready to accept King Gyanendra as their king and the faith on the political parties had already been washed away.

Just when the political situation was trying to blossom there arose a conflict between the communists themselves. Those communists started believing in Mao Tse Tung a great leader of China and tried to gain attention through armed revolution challenging the government. The conflict then slowly moved between the Maoists and the Government and now the war was against those two parties. This war probably started ten years before date. There were many killings and sufferings from all three sides which include the government, the Maoists and the general or the innocent people.

Now the armed revolution of the Maoists has come into halt and the future seems to be bright for the Nepali people. Though there is still confusion on ones mind about what the government is going to be like. Those people who are living under poverty have faith on the Maoists and the wealthy enough people don’t trust the Maoists. The remaining big parties are just unfaithful for the nepali people as they have already faced the consequences after being brought into the government. Another confusing factor is that the parties have not come to a point of deciding whether to keep the king or not. All those big parties are now concerned over the constitutional assembly. To reform the constitutional assembly those parties have to go through poll and the general public will decide. This election procedure is taking longer than what ought to be. However the constitutional assembly should take place or the nation will go into chaos.

Every thing has its end and so does this chaotic political scene in Nepal. We all can just hope for the best of future ahead.
