Farewell By An Athlete

It is really disheartening when your favorite sports person bids farewell to the game he/she has been playing since a long time and performing very well. The first incident which brought tears in my eyes was the day when the NBA three point specialist Reggie Miller said goodbye to basketball. Not only me but the whole people present in the stadium were sobbing including the hero Reggie Miller himself. People had placards reading “Say it ain’t so Reggie” and stuffs like that. He was playing against the Detroit Pistons. The Pacers substituted Reggie and when Reggie was stepping out of the court and after that he will never be coming back, the Piston’s coach took a time out and the whole team walked up to Reggie and bid him farewell. This was a very sad moment. This moment made me cry, I just can’t explain how tears rolled down my eyes.

Recently another farewell took place which is related to cricket. The Pakistani Cricket team’s captain Injamam Ul Haque said good bye to the international cricket. This was his last game in his career which he played against Zimbabwe. When he was walking out of the pitch the whole stadium stood up and applauded and the opponents too shook their hands. On the way back to the pavilion Inji himself was wiping tears down his cheeks. This scene was very sad. Everyone has to do it this day or the other but that very moment is really very hard to get over.

There are inevitable moments yet we cry.
Bitter is Bye-Bye rather than Hello And Hi.
