Whitewashed Australia

Australia has been clean swept by the New Zealand with a three nil loss. The first of the three one day internationals was won by the New Zealand by ten wickets which might be called an embarrassing loss for the Australians, in the second match the Australians posted a huge total of 326 runs and were unable to defend it, the third and the final was also won by the New Zealand team chasing a mighty total of 346 runs. This white wash against Australia has come in a long time. Just before this series they lost to England in the Commonwealth series which also featured New Zealand. Now the reigning champions losing streak stretches to seven consecutive games. The world cup is just around the corner and their morale has been totally devastated. The Australians have dropped down in the cricket ranking as well. It had been a very long time since the world champions Australians were enjoying the number one spot. After this victory the New Zealand team’s spirit has boomed and will probably help them in the world cup 2007. Nevertheless Australia is a very good team and the strongest of contenders who would lift the world cup and cannot be taken light regarding the past performances as the skipper Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds, regular wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist, Bret Lee and Michael Clarke were not available for this series.
