Pokhara

A city in the western side of Nepal which is a perfect place for spending holidays is not just beautiful but more than that is Pokhara. The famous lakes, the Mahendra Cave, the David’s Fall, the mountains and whatever the names come in the natural beauty class is in Pokhara. It is not very far from the capital, Kathmandu just 900 km away. The most picturesque scene is the Machhapuchhre Mountain or Fishtail Mountain as it is called in English in the back of the Fewa Lake. We can see the crystal clear reflection of the mountain in the lake making everyone’s jaws wide open. Though Pokhara is a small city it is also one of the gateway of trekking. The people are quite friendly, least polluted city compared to the other cities of Nepal. It is also the heart of unique cultures of different tribes of Nepal. The number of tourist always outnumbers the locals in Pokhara. The Bindhyabasini temple is situated in a small island in the Rara Lake where devotees go and pray. The devotees include the royal family who go and pay homage once a year or so. There is boating in some Lakes, gliding and much more things relating to adventures. One need not worry about bed and breakfast as there are a number of hotels which provide a homely environment with every possible daily needs like internet, telephone, satellite tv channels etc. So if anyone is planning to visit Nepal, Pokhara is a must.

Thank you for writing about my home town Pokhara .You have tried to describe it beautifully but it would be better if you have mentioned about those spots which lacks publicity like Pame, the beginning of Fewa, gurung villages like Ghalel/Lwang,only mountain museum of Nepal etc...........and sadly ,now a days leave tourists outnumbering locals( except lakeside )its like digging gold mine to search tourists.......I have home in Mahendrapool still I seldom see NONNEPALI, BY A POKHRELI
