tab vs staff

Tab is an easy to understand script in music for musicians or a wanna be musician. Tab is simply a six lined figure viz. e B G D A E in which the fret number is written over these lines which indicate which string to be played. For example if 12, 13, 14 is written on the third line then play the twelfth, thirteenth and the fourteenth fret of the third or G string. Tab notaion doesn't require a lot of hard work in studying and playing, a small effort can do. The timing is the only factor which is not defined properly in tab notation.

Staff notation is rather hard to study or play compared to that of tab. This is a pure script of music. It is represented by five lines named e B G D A E and there are five gaps which are also named as F A C E from bottom to top. The note to play is denoted by a dot and sometimes or mostof the time with a tail. Play the note where the dot is spotted. For example, if the dot is in the line then play e or g or b or d or f accordingly and if the dot is in the spaces then play f or a of c or e. These do not represent chords but single notes which I don't need to say I guess.

Staff notation is real and pure form of written music. However some people don't care and simply follow tab notation whereas professional musicians do follow the staff notation.
