Friend In Need

A fight broke out between our college and a college near to ours which was related to a political issue. The whole college was mobilized in this brawl. We were pelting bricks at them and so were they. The traffic was totally halted in the lainchour street. There was a senior guy, a friend of mine and me in the front row of our group heading towards the group who was throwing stones at us and we too were throwing stones at them. One of my friend shouted “Cops run” I started to run. Just when I was about to run I felt something flowing through my cheeks. I took my hands where I felt something flowing and I found that I was bleeding. I was already hit by a stone. I never knew when I was hit and finally I came to know that I was hit right above my eye and I was bleeding very hard. My shirt was full of blood and my cap as well. On knowing that I was bleeding I then almost lost consciousness. Upon seeing this a friend of mine with whom I was not talking because of a very small dispute shouted at me “hey what happened?” He then covered me and took me to the hospital where I had some stitches. This incident taught me the true value of a friend. Had he not helped me, the situation could have been anything perhaps I could have died. Though we didn’t talk to each other he helped me when I was in need. Friends are the best thing in life one can get. I have so many good friends to whom I owe a lot and still the number of good friends list is mounting. Wow lucky me.

Beauty And The Beast

I love watching animated movies very much. The one called “Beauty And The Beast” is among my favorites which I saw in my fifth grade. Though the story is not strange to anyone, watching this movie is great. How a girl changes the beast which had been in evil spell by someone to a prince. The candles, the cupboards and the brooms everything in fact used to be human in the former days. Everything comes back to normal when the youngest daughter of a farmer was compelled to stay in that palace. The way the girl treats the beast is so nice and she is not afraid of that beast. In the end the beast does a good thing and is shot by a bad man of the village. This last good thing done by the beast changes it into its past as a prince and thus he is out of the evil spell and so as the other members of the palace. The prince then marries the girl and lives a happy life. This movie is great and the animation had been done nicely. Ten of ten from me.

Nepali Anthems

As Led Zeppelin’s song “Stairway To Heaven” has been referred as an anthem at times in the western countries, I would like to name some of the anthems though not in the literal meaning of Nepal.
The first anthem as far as I know was “Simsime Panima” sung by Prem Raja Mahat and Rekha Shah. This song used to be in everyone’s lips and every tourists could be seen dancing to this number. This song was all over here and there in Nepal.
The second was “Chekyo Chekyo” by the band called Nepathya. No song had rocked the nation completely like the one Chekyo Chekyo did. This song could be heard everywhere, from bus stations to restaurants, television to radios and the number of requests in fm stations for this song was huge. There were only three fm stations then and all those stations could not be left without playing this song once a day. This song dominated the music sector then.
The last I remember is “Wari Jamuna Paari Jamuna” sung by Khemraj Gurung. When this song was released, the music scene was totally dominated by pop genre. Pop genre included heavy metal, rock, rap and everything in our society at that time. This is a very traditional folk song of Nepal and still stood high in that time. Everywhere you go, you would hear this song. This song too dominated the musical scene in Nepal. As far as I see this song can be credited for rejuvenating the folk music here.
