The Revenge

It was some years back when I ran into trouble. I was back in my village and the biggest day of the year when they put tikas and receive blessings from their seniors, I had a nasty brawl with a notorious bully of my village. I was never wrong and just couldn’t suppress my anger. He lost his conscious due to our severe beating. Later when he came to normal, he lured me by saying if I apologized to him, he would not case a file which I did. But he did not keep his words.

Looking back at those moments, which was the only time in my life when I really fulfilled by promises. When I was in the sixth standard I went to my village for the very first time. It took us six and a half day to reach home after getting off the bus. In between the journey, a guy mentioned about my father almost being killed by a group of thugs who beat him mercilessly. My father being a high school teacher might not have been that bad to get that beating. Those bullies in my village were the big shots then and they had the village moved according to their wish. At that very moment I promised that when I grow big, I’d fight that dude.

Later when we reached home, I encountered him and my fellow whispered the name of that bully. Back then I was so scared of him that I’d take the other path if we were about to get near. After sometimes I came back and used to think of that guy so much. Just thinking of him would startle me. Many years later, I went back to village, I did not get the opportunity to have a fight with him and I don’t remember, but it was in the Dashain I had my revenge. We don’t celebrate Dashain and the incident took place. After that incident, we all flew off the village and ran refuge in Bhojpur.

The biggest festival of the year is just around the corner. Smiles can be seen in everybody’s face as this is the only time of the year when people seem very joyous. However, the season doesn’t only bring happiness but also some worries at the same time. There are a lot of families, who are deprived of the season’s happiness, be it financially or emotionally.

Sadly this season has also come to me as a burden. Friends suggest that we should take a hike or visit a meditation centre but to me in person, I feel like doing nothing. I don’t jump with the world and I may be quite happy if the world leaves far aback when I dwell myself in my own insidious world of feelings and remorse. But then again, I don’t want to sulk and have a dull festive season this time. I have my own ways of fighting time in my solitude. I have brought a bunch of horror movies to pass my time. I was never really into horror movies but this time around I’m going to try. This is the ideal way of adjusting the state of my mind at present.

Travel To The West

Travelling is the best way of refreshments. I have not travelled since the last one to Dolkha. It was some one year ago and that was a very memorable one. Samindra who was among us in that tour has already left for abroad would be dearly missed if we make a tour this time too.

I have a very strong desire to visit the western part of Nepal in the days to come. There are so many breathtaking landscapes in the west and Karnali bridge is one of the most, must visit places. Other places like Lumbini regarded as the birthplace of Buddhism is another must visit places in Nepal. The far western places on Nepal like Mangalsen in Achham, Karnali, Surkhet are also the places which one should visit and they have their own history. Getting to know those places means learning more about the culture and traditions. They have their own language totally different from the mother language of Nepal.

If I ever had time and companion, the western side of Nepal would be my top priority because I have travelled to almost 75% of the east.

Time Pass

Watching movies is a good way of spending time. I don’t remember watching any new releases in the recent times but would love to see the transformers. I am not a movie maniac and I don’t have a DVD player in my room and neither do I have a CD drive in my notebook. My favourite source of movies is torrent and I have quite a collection of movies in my hard drive. The one I watch most repeatedly is “the outsiders” and lately I have been watching “lock stock and two smoking barrels” again and again. I really love watching my favourite movies over and over again. This is England, 300, A walk to remember are other favourites of mine which I frequently watch. There’s another good movie called “sano sansar” and this is the movie I often watch while I’m at work.

Apart from movies I have a huge collection of music videos. The videos of Axe band and Dibya Subba are my best and I never get tired of watching those videos again and again. In fact, Axe and Dibya Subba are the coolest artists in Nepal leaving some others.

This is how I spend my free time watching same movies again and again and watching the same music videos over and over.

Nice Saturday

My weekends never go my way. Last Saturday was an exception as I had an opportunity to indulge myself in things and chores I like. I abandoned an important meeting which is my bad but there were justifiable reasons with me. Then it was my time, the whole day belonged to me. The feeling when she’s online is way out of the world. Eventually that beautiful day ended in a positive way.

This weekend however did not go that bad. Woke up early in the morning, went to Baluatar to have a cup of tea and then straight to Baneshwor for our meeting. There too I stepped into the front line making spot decisions and it really feels good in those moments. According to my plan, I visited a mall to get some movies but that did not happen as the store was closed and this made my day a movie and music less day. In the afternoon however, I went to the stadium to watch a football match. There I met a very good old friend of mine. Me and Sunil Dai we had a great time watching football. Now it’s almost the end of the day, the load shedding is the only factor that annoyed me. For the rest, it was an awesome day but then again the most blissful part hasn’t taken place ie. to have a conversation with HER.

There are so many wonderful new bands and artists in the world today and I have not been able to keep up with the current trends. The latest albums in my collection includes those of Bonjovi, Alter Bridge, James Blunt and Matchbox twenty to name some whereas I have some Children Of Bodom and Cradle of Filth albums too. I have however not given so much interest to the likes of Kings of Leon or Foo Fighters. Have I hereby proved my love towards Rock and Roll? Yeah, I am more into rock and roll rather than any other genres.

Not forgetting to mention that, these days have been very hard on me and finding myself some spare time to listen to music has been a long gone story. However, right at the moment I am listening to Credence Clearwater Revival and I guarantee there are few in fact null amounts of audiences who don’t love CCR. I have been a CCR fan for a long time now. Listening to CCR numbers right now is taking me way back to those Fairy Land Days when I used to creep into an Indian teacher’s room and play the CCR records. On top of that, the CCR music takes me floating to those days when I was in my village, free and wild, reckless and carefree. The picture of my village is looming in the back of my mind and the feeling of my presence in my village is surreal.

I can never get enough of listening to CCR, John Fogerty rocks. I think I'll get some of my good old days snaps of me wandering around my village in a very new future.

One day she return home a bit later than usual. At home, her mom and her brother, both of them are indulged in their own chores after dinner. The mother as always is tensed as she had been scolding her daughter to be home in time when the whole nation is at chaos with political turmoil. Then the daughter arrives. As soon as she stands her bike, she seemed to be sobbing; her mother reached out to her shoulders and asked what had happened.

She cried out louder this time and said that a robber snatched her handbag from her bike. She also said that she hadn’t been feeling well which is why she was riding at a very low speed. The thug on the other hand could have seen the opportunity and was able to make up with her bag. She said that her bag contained her mobile phone, diaries and a couple of thousand rupees bills. The mom started consoling her, after all there was nothing else she could do at the moment.

The brother on the other hand started shouting at her sister for roaming around late. “This wouldn’t have happened if only you came home early” and etcetera were the sentences the brother had been growling. One of my all time best stories and I'd like to share with the world, here it goes and the writer of this story is O Henry:

At an art conference, Joe meets Deliah. Joe is a painter who has been painting since his early childhood and he has already impressed people around, with his spectacular work. Deliah is a music lover and has received several accolades with her talents, within her circle and relatives.

After their first meeting, the love towards their respective art was responsible for binding them together. After sometimes they get married. Both of them had come away from home to pursue their career in their respective fields and thus a new life begins.

They both were enrolled in institutions where the class fee was extremely high. Hardships started squeezing them. The flat they were staying was the cheapest and the smallest, yet they were happy about their love towards art and towards each other as well. House keeping became tougher and tougher as the days progressed. The time was almost there when they both had to boycott their career and work to earn money instead.

One fine day, Deliah comes home elated. She tells Joe that she has got a pupil, a twelve year old daughter of General Pinkey. Three classes a week at five dollars a class. She was mnore than happy that she would earn fifteen dollars a week and with this earning, Joe could continue his art classes. She did not want Joe to quit his course and she also knew how bad it would be if one has to give up something that is adored the most or more precisely dreams. Hearing this, Joe did not feel as happy as Deliah because, he did not want his wife to sell her knowledge just to help him achieve his goals. After some conversation, Joe finally agrees to continue with his classes while his wife worked.

Joe on the other hand tells Deliah that he has been working on a paint which he hopes to sell it at a good price. Deliah keeps praying for her husband that his picture would be bought by a rich idiot at the best possible price.

One Friday, Deliah brings her pay and spreads them over the floor. In that very moment, Joe lays seventeen and a half dollar on the floor right beside the fifteen dollars. He says that a wealthy man from Peoria liked his painting so much that he instantly paid cash for the painting and more interestingly he has already ordered another one by the weekend. Joe and Deliah never had that much of money in a week so they decide to have a jazzy dinner that night.

Next weekend, Joe comes home a bit earlier, washes his hands and places eighteen dollar bills on the floor, waiting for Deliah. After about half an hour or so, Deliah shows up at the door with a bandage on her arm. He carefully inspects the bandage which is smoothly oiled. Joe gets worried, askes her what had happened. Deliah starts her sotry. She says that the daughter of the General insisted her to see their rabbits. While feeding the rabbit, one of them bit her hand. The servants then immediately medicated the wound by wrapping cotton dipped in oil for temporary relief. She also assures Joe that everything is fine and it had already stopped hurting.

At this point, Joe is shocked, “Don’t lie deliah”, he says as he draws her to the couch.
Deliah replies, “At around five”

Joe asks her, “At what time did the rabbit bite you? What have you been doing for the last two weeks?”

Deliah’s eyes fill with tears, and starts telling him the truth.

“Joe, I lied about the pupil and General Pinkey. I just work at the laundry and while ironing, I burnt my hands. I did not want you to quit your classes and with no other options left, I started working in that laundry. General Pinkey is a total fiction and I always had hard times making up stories. And if I hadn’t worked, you couldn’t have sold your painting to the man from Peoria. Are you angry with me Joe? Would you get mad at me for lying?”

Then Joe replies, “Deli, there is no one as such from Peoria. Today at five, a girl came rushing downstairs towards our hall for some help. She said that someone’s terribly hurt so I hurried myself and dipped a piece of cloth in the oil telling her to use this method for instant relief. I have been firing the engine in that laundry for the last two weeks.”

Both the general Pinkey and the wealthy man from Peoria are our creations but neither music nor painting. They both laugh and Joe says, “When one loves art, no service seems…”

But Deliah stops him with her hands on his lips. “No”, says she, “just when one loves”.

You know folks? I already dislike the term called cry. I hate this word so much. In the first place the word itself is error according to English Grammar. The word is made up of three consonants and in English no word is supposed to be composed, without containing a single vowel in it. Yet I have been hearing, reading, writing this term since I learned English.

Can you bear someone cry in anguish? Let us assume a cry of a small child, its mouth wide agape, tears rolling down its cheeks, trying to show its innocence, pain, dissatisfaction and the likes. Tears falls when someone is terribly hurt and thus seeing someone cry is a torment because you can see or feel the crier being hurt.

Not only in sadness or grief, tears falls on almost all occasions, this damn tears fall in happiness and bliss as well. Tears and cry intervene in all sorts of ways one can stumble upon.

Yesterday it was somehow a similar experience of mine when tears almost ran down my cheeks. And it was not for a saddening incident, but it was tears of joy, excitement and a perfect ecstasy. Surprises, they come in many forms, yesterday it struck me in the sweetest of ways. The one who brought me such happiness should not be any lesser than any goddesses. Humans have worshipped and have trusted the gods, the trust and belief which I lack. But as the world accepts the almighty thing, I now should refer yesterday’s incidence related to gods and the goddesses in one way or the other. Because, it was a mighty blow and the mighty blow could have only been generated by the almighty. Thus the one who brought tears in my eyes is to be regarded as none other than the almighty. Co-incidentally, her name resembles the goddess.

I hate to cry and I discourage the criers, but there’s always an exception. You can cry and yes I repeat, you can cry your heart one even when you’re the happiest existing creature in this nature.

The last time when I cried tears of joy was while watching the Oprah Winfrey Show and it had been years since I hadn’t cried. And yesterday you did it. Thank you so much and congratulations for your success in bringing tears of joy in my eyes. Thank you

You're Not Alone

Once in a blue moon, this thought pops into my mind, the thought of being all alone and helpless. Whichever door I try to open I’m led to a dead end. My heights of patience is always examined, my endurance and endeavours are always confronted. And in fact nothing seems to go my way, even the nature seems to be messing up with me. The night doesn’t fall at the right time, the clock doesn’t strike any hours and the air seems be some sort of out of oxygen.

Despite all these downs, from somewhere in the corner a small ray of hope and inspiration emerges. Having being in tremendous pain, the inspiration drives me to the whole new level. Positive energies are activated in me automatically. These energies help me find open doors to a new world and make everything fall into the right place. Just a thought and yes just a thought of seeing something positive is what inspires me to dump all my lows.

I experienced this only a couple of days back. I got a mail from my sister which was enough to make me wonder about tomorrow. Though she is always beside me in my times of ups and downs, I have to trust and depend upon myself from an unexpected point of time in the days to come. I went real down with some of her decisions and it took me just a couple of hours when I garnered myself some inspirations. There was no one around to talk about and that was the time when I had to fight my fight on my own.

I this context I personally urge everyone to build up the confidence on your own with your very own suggestions and guidance. When there’s no one around you in times of need, it’s only you who can help you, who can lead you to the brightest side of anything. Yeah, let’s all believe in “you are not alone”.

They need concentration and planning or precisely strategy for an instance in chess. They are non violent contact games this might be the reason why these games are made available in schools and in households by teachers and parents.

However to some they might be boring and dull as they are not as physical like football or cricket. However we cannot say less exciting. As for me chess and scrabbles are more exciting nag engaging than football or cricket. But they have their own virtue for example for elderly peoples board games might be ideal .for example in nursing homes and residential homes they seem to enjoy bard games like dominoes, snake and ladder.

In conclusion board games are popular indoor games .they are safe games and someone who don’t like noisy games and like games which includes concentration and strategy this is ideal. However place of board games are being replaced by video games slowly.

World is now at its fastest pace and we can easily speculate that it won’t slow down even in our coming days .Thus people tend to take holidays now and then whenever possible. As for me I am looking forward to midwinter when I have booked my holiday.

Everybody have their own ideas of holidays as human beings behavior is all unique and sometimes unpredictable. I have known people who prefer to spend their holidays visiting their family and relatives whereas some people go for world tour. There are also these people who always like to spend their holiday in same way like visiting their favorite place every holiday. The nature of holiday that people want depends on their nature and perception really.

Regarding my idea of an ideal holiday it not very uncommon. I like to visit different places that I haven’t been to with my close friends and families. I prefer tranquil places with natural beauty but by that I don’t mean totally abandoned places. It should have good basic infrastructures like telephone, hospitals and hotels within reach.

Natural wonders like Niagara Falls, splendid Hawaii beaches and exotic palaces and temples of Tibet, Japan and Korea are some of the places that I have been dreaming of spending some unforgettable holidays some day. Places with historical values such as the great wall and the great pyramids of Giza are some places where I fancy being someday.

In addition wherever I may go for holiday I would like to feel secure .likewise holidays less than a week and more than two week is not very ideal for me because less days can make you feel as if you are in rush and more days can be tire some sometimes.

Thus in conclusion going to different places with natural beauties and historical values with friends and families is my idea of an ideal holiday.

As I was watching CNN, there was a short program related to dolphins and whales. It showed that some of the nations in the world are still hunting whales, the list of the countries include Japan, Norway and Iceland. I term the killing of whales a disgusting act. The footages shown were pretty nasty, where poachers were shown to sail behind whales and shoot them with an arrow tied to a string. Today was a quite long Sunday, I had a real big time killing it. The start was a terrible one but the only good thing I learned today was about the band Satyricon coming to Kathmandu to perform. This is a great news at least for me and I am attending that concert at any cost. Foreign great bands never visit Kathmandu but this time, the band Satyricon is coming to town, or it may just be a hoax but the news cheered me up a little bit.

In the morning as soon as I woke up, I headed towards the garage to fix my bike’s punctured tyre. Some local guys gathered there and as I had plenty of spare time, I spent some hours talking to them, hearing their experiences in foreign lands, gossips about subash, sau and many other close ones. With that chat, I also learned about many guys who are behind bars, and in particular a dai who has been behind bars shocked me.

In the day time, I spent whole day listening to Satyricon, cradle of filth, napalm death and six feet under. Due to the present state of my mind, I needed these death metal songs to relish my bad times. Felt a bit better listening to double bass drums and heavy riffs with brutal vocals.

Now, it’s almost bed time for me, I don’t have guts to sign into my messenger or skype, so I got to sign off the day without doing my regular stuffs however, I must urgently finish some advertiser’s work within an hour or so. But I have to admit that, the day was really harsh at me.

I brought a compilation cd which has 19 songs and I enjoyed each and every songs. The compilation is entitled Black Metal. All the songs are great and this is a perfect collection that I have been looking for, for the last couple of months. It includes some big names of the black metal genre like Burzum, Gorgoroth, to name a few. This particular album is the hardest head banging one in my collection. I prefer listening to collections rather than complete albums. I have albums of cradle of filth, napalm death, slayer and this one called black metal is the best so far. Re-sung And Re-mixed

Not all great re-sung songs or re-mixed songs are good and pleasing. For me the previous and old songs are better in all aspects. However when Metallica does it, it’s an exceptional case. Other great re-mixed songs in my list include Puff Daddy’s hit single called “I’ll be missing you” which is a re-mixed version of the old “Police” classic “Every breathe you take”. The later version is able to bring the same feelings as the older version had.

Another great one is the one done by Puff Daddy again with Jimmy Page. The improvised and remixed number of the song “Kashmir” is very good and neatly done as well. I am not into hiphop and R and B genres but Puff Daddy happens to be my best and he is good in doing remixes and improvisations. Puff Daddy rocks and he rocks real hard. When ever he remixes old great songs he is able to bring more intensity in his work.

The remix version of older great classic called “Feel like making love” by Kidrock is a waste and it’s a total crap. These kinds of remixes decrease the real essence of original numbers. There was a time when every friend of mine had girlfriends while I didn’t. Everyone flirting with the opposite sexes, roaming around, laughing at silly jokes which were not at all funny, going to movies or for a walk with one girl on the first day and with the other on the next day and etc. were the most common scenes. At times I used to be provoked with their activities and I wished I too had a girlfriend. Some festivals used to bring a lot of charm and excitement in them like some sort street festivals, Valentine’s Day and the likes and I would only be a busy stray Labrador wandering on the streets. I would indulge myself in imaginations of having a girl. I used to look in the mirror and say to my self, “you’re not good enough for any girl, live alone”. That is why I decided to say the hardest three little words to only one person and only once, if I ever had to say it to anyone. I had made up my mind not to repeat the hardest phrase to anyone and not more than once.

So, I did not have any female friends, I used to call myself a nerd, people used to call me psycho and sometimes, I got real nasty compliments, however I wasn’t influenced by their act, with their mocking and with their humiliation. I remained myself, though I can’t ignore some occasions when I was terribly infatuated. Those infatuations never took a serious mode because in those times my level of self esteem was way below par and I thought I was the most worthless living creature on earth. I had already started disbelieving my potentials, my will and my enthusiasm. I was totally isolated and I was the worst unsocial guy in my circle.

Time slowly yet surely changed, my attitude towards the world gradually changed. It was on the 28th of February 2007 which I should say was the day of serendipity. I met her in a social networking community site and instantly I felt like she is the person I should be spending the rest of my life. There were and are so many traits in her which I had always looked upon my soon to be girl. I had not seen her but the chemistry was already taking place in my side. Eventually I convinced her on a face to face meeting. Until that day, I had never called up anyone and never met anyone. She became the first person in my life who I guess propelled me towards love, and the purest one.

One day when our conversation grew more and more intense, every barrier broke away and I spoke this hardest little phrase to her. I wasn’t even prepared to say the most difficult phrase to her but those words simply flew off of my throat. Only after a couple of minutes I realized that I said it, I unbelievably and unprepared, had finally said this to someone and I could feel my fingers tremble in excitement and amazement, I don’t know why. I had so many people to whom I wished to tell this particular incident about my feat but this time I had no one around. I wasn’t able to share my good times with anyone but at the end of the day I did not have any such hard feeling for or towards anything and anyone.

Now that I am seriously in love with her, I have tattooed her name in my chest. No matter what, I can’t even imagine anyone else in my life apart from her and won’t be repeating this phrase again and again to a, b or c. If in any way, I do not get her, I would probably be a lunatic and won’t survive and if I ever survived, I would live with the pain, every time I look in the mirror I would see her name and I would miss her bad. I think I have fortified and readied myself to bear that pain or more precisely I am willing to live with the pain, misery and sorrow if getting her is out of my possibility but I pray to my ancestors not to let that happen.

I have always lived my life, I have kept my words and will keep them. The left of my side will always belong to her.

Sometimes life is so beautiful and it catches you off guard. A miracle, a good luck and etc. do not necessarily have to be something very big and surprising one. The smallest of things comes with the largest delight.

I was at nakhipot in a friend’s shop. That is the place which I love most and there are no specific reasons behind my liking towards that place. Another friend of mine who I heard resides at nakhipot at present was in my mind. I was even thinking of calling him. Just then a motorcycle passes me right in front of my eyes. Only to get shocked my friend is seated in the motorcycle which leavesmy eyes wide open and my jaws drop in amazement. I did not have enough time to yell at him so I just saw him off.

And in the evening while I was returning home, I stopped at a regular routine checkpoint. Seconds before reaching that point I was thinking of my friend Bhusan and was wondering if he was home or was he still at the office? When I stopped in front of a security personnel, a voice came from behind which said “Ustaad”. Surprisingly it was Bhusan again. I was really shocked. And then we came home together.

So, these were the incidents which caught me off guard. Though these incidents when recalled, seems to be a mere coincidence but for me it was something special and would last very long in my memory.

Every favorite song and music has its own reasons to become a favorite. To me, a particular song called “talk show on mute” has been the current favorite and it’s been quite a while since I have liked this one. The title of the song seems to be very true in my case, a talk show on mute.

Is it possible to have a talk show on mute? Disputes may arise, but for me it has, a mute talk show has happened and generally happens on most occasions. It occurs when I call some one and the voice heard from the other end is either yes or no. I am very certain about her nodding her head to the left or right and up or down when she doesn’t and does agree with some of my talks. I can only hear her breathing, giggling, shrugging, chuckling and of course panting when I sometimes catch her walking on the streets. Another interesting thing is that, I can hear her talking to people around her while I talk to her.

Most of the times, I have to assume her answers and respond to the assumed feedbacks on my own. It is a total talk show on mute and her answers which I assume never go wrong because I know her and to the deepest as well. What she doesn’t like, what makes her laugh, what frowns her, I know them all very well so making assumptions about her replies and answers is not much of a big deal to me, it’s just a piece of cake.

I never get tired of hosting a mute talk show with her and I always look forward to do such talk shows every now and then but again my proposal of hosting such mute talks show isn’t always permitted and is disallowed most of the times. However I find those shows not amusing but a blissful experience whenever I get to host one.

That is why, the song: “talk show on mute” has some nostalgia and thus is my current favorite.

One day, Dan was on a voyage to a city very far away, where he meets a very self centered and talkative guy name Brad. Brad seemed to be a very talkative guy while Dan was a very good listener. Dan has no option other than to talk to this fellow passenger and he doesn’t even bother how boastful Brad could be. After knowing each other, Brad starts to blow his own horn and finally tells one of his stories where he got romantic for the first time in his life. He tells the story of how he got a very beautiful wife. His story goes like this.
In his town where he lived, Brad used to be the ugliest man but he had a very soothing voice and with his talk he could impress anyone. He had a friend named Fred who was the most handsome guy in town but he could never talk in a very convincing manner. Both of them had some drawback of their own in their personalities.
One day Fred talks about a girl with whom he fell in love. He would regularly see the girl in a mall in the afternoon. There, they both used to exchange sights and that was it. Both of them used to see each other but they had never talked in person. Fred comes up with a very good scheme of acquiring his love. He asks for some help from Brad. He tells Brad to visit the girl’s house in the darkest nights and talk to her on behalf of Fred. After thinking for a long time Brad agrees. Now Brad had to do the talking to the girl in the dark hours where she could not even see his face. So, one night Brad sets up to visit the girl’s house who happened to be a daughter of the retired sergeant. He puts on a heavy dark cloak and sneaks to the girl’s house from the back of the compound when she would appear at the windows from her room. This goes for many days and finally, the girl agrees to marry Fred. Brad just did the talking and finally he is able to seduce the girl for Fred.
So, Fred is the happiest man in the world, he insists Brad to see her once before, they both get married. Brad agrees to see the girl with whom he had talked for hours in the dark for many a days. So they both go to the mall where the girl would come by in the afternoon. The girl then arrives and share quick glance with Fred. She doesn’t even bother to see or notice if anyone’s standing beside him. They just exchange quick glances and that was it.

But when, Brad sees the girl, he too falls in love and in no way he would now let go off the girl. Both of them argue over the matter. Fred also tells Brad that he has already talked to the girl’s father and thus an engagement ceremony had already been fixed. He then, also invites Brad to the reception.
At the ceremony the next day, Brad walks up to the girl and tells everything. The girl is now in dilemma and gets into confusion. She now has to choose an ugly man with beautiful voice or a handsome hunk with disgusting voice. However, Fred tells Brad that they were leaving the town, the next day.

The next day, Brad also boards the ship in which the girl and Fred were travelling. But the previous night, Brad had indulged himself in heavy drinking and now he is having problem with his throat. He lost his voice. Somehow he managed to find a compounder who gives him some medicine to clear his throat. He then gulps a tablet and waits for his voice to recover.

Without his voice, he can never propose the girl and now it seemed like if he’s lost the race. He tries to shout but to no avail. He sadly walks up to the girl, she looks at him but says nothing. Brad says to the girl, “I love you, please marry me”. To a great surprise, his voice spurted at the right time. He was surprised and was very happy at the same time. The girl then decides to marry Brad and forgets Fred.

After marrying the girl, Brad thinks about the tonic which cured his voice. He was very grateful to the compounder and the tonic as well. He thinks that the tonic is a miracle and no tonic is more worthy in any regards.

After telling this story Brad turns to Don and says, “I am planning to start a retail shop which sells that tonic. Do you like to try it once?”

There is a rich landlord named Anthony. He is very wealthy and lives a retired life. His son has just come home in years after completing his college. One day Anthony calls his son and asks him about his expenses on clothes and etc. Anthony asks, “Son, how much do you spend on soap?” The son replies, “12 dollar for a dozen” The father again, “How much do you spend on clothes?” “60 dollars” was the reply. The father then appeals to his son to spend more money as he as a lot fo money his account. A small debate heats up between the father and the son. The father says that everything can be bought with money but the son doesn’t agree. The son says, “There are things which money can’t buy” The father is disgusted with his sons hypothesis.

The father then gets personal and asks, “What’s her name?” The son is shocked and later reveals his love towards a girl. The father again says, “You are a good looking man, you have a college degree and most importantly I have enough money to spend on you, go ahead and propose the girl”. The son says, “It’s too late dad, the girl is leaving the city tomorrow for two years. But I have the permission to see her once before leaving. It would only be for a couple of minutes. We will meet at the crossroad and we’ll take a cab to the train station. That is it, I don’t have time.”

Anthony then tells his son to meet the girl at any condition. The son tells him that if he ever meet her, there would be no time to propose her, and if he ever proposed, it would be way too late.

Later that night, Anthony’s sister visits them. Upon finding the son’s story, she walks up to him and hands him a golden ring. She tells him that his mother had left it for him and she had also asked her to give the ring only when he finds someone he loves. So this was the right opportunity to give him the ring which she believes the ring to bring good luck.

The next day, the junior is on his way to see his girl for one final chance. They meet at a crossroad and they hurry towards train station in a cab. The mother would be waiting for the girl at the train station with all her luggage. So this was the only period when he would be with the girl, just a cab drive from the crossroad to the train station, an eight minute drive.

When they were moving towards the train station, the boy asks the cab driver to stop the cab, he says he dropped the ring and he hated losing the ring. The girl on the other hand is running out of time as she might miss the train. Then the boy returns back to the cab with the ring. He apologizes to the girl. When the cab was about to move ahead, a small car blocks their way, and while trying to back, another big truck comes out of nowhere and they get blocked. Slowly the whole street is jumbled up in the heaviest traffic jam. In no way, the girl would now reach the train station in time. The policemen arrive at the scene but could not clear the blockade.
In the evening Anthony’s sister comes home and tells Anthony the entire story about the blockades and all. She also tells him that his son has finally proposed the girl who has agreed to marry him in future. Anthony is happy to hear this. His sister tells him that the good thing happened just because of the ring and there would have been nothing his wealth could have done. Anthony on the other hand doesn’t show any interest on this and says, “Hey sister, I am on the last chapter of a pirate saving his chest full of treasure in a sinking ship. He knows the value of wealth more than anyone else does. Let me finish the chapter first.”

The next morning, a man comes to their home and meets Anthony. The man handles Anthony a list containing a lot of expenses. He say, “I’ve spend 300 dollars on my own and thus the total amount now sums up to 1300 dollars.” Anthony write the amount in his cheque book and replies, “I’m happy that you did everything at the right time.”

“Yes” the man replies, “But the big truck cost me more, the little cars agreed at 5 dollars each, the labours were a bit costly and I almost got into trouble dealing with traffic officer, so i had to pay 300 dollars to one and 150 to the other. But sir, everything went well and everyone was there at the right time.”

Anthony asks that man, “Did you see a fat man wearing only shorts, carrying a bow and arrow?” The man replied, “No, I did not, had there been any man like you said, the police would have surely arrested him”. Anthony replies, “I thought he would not show up at the right time”.

My Musical Choice

There aren’t any single reasons for pop music gaining popularity around the globe. Due to the catchy melody and groovy beats, pop music must have become popular. They are easy to rhyme along, have simple lyrics and these may be the reasons why people around the world prefer pop over other genres.

My personal taste differs and I don’t have any particular liking towards music. I listen to traditional music and classical music from abroad as well. Both of them are equally good and I don’t find any grounds where I can compare one over another. To me music has no boundary and thus music cannot be narrowed by any political borders or languages. I listen to Mozart and Beethoven a lot and my local artists include Arun Thapa and Sur Sudha which proves my compatibility in both traditional music from my county and classical music from abroad.

Listening to music while reading definitely, one’s mind gets distracted. I always keep my music system to a standby mode while reading text books but when I am busy reading novels and stories, I enjoy Vivaldi at the background. The soothing sound of the orchestra really provides extra excitement and pleasure. While reading I avoid funky and groovy music because they are good enough to distract my concentration.

The current music scenario seems to be dominated by soft rock. Earlier in the 90’s it was rock and before that it was rock and roll. But R and B and hip hop have always come head to head with all genres. Sometimes back there was techno which ruled the world and at present, there is very less techno music going around.

This proves that, different genres reign over time and we can never predict what kind of music would rock the world in the days to come. It’s just a case of wait and watch. But as for me, the music scene is getting better as the days progress and I am sure, whatever comes, it would please everyone. However I would not prefer thrash metal not ignoring that there are enough listeners and fans following thrash metal. Taste differs.

One of the longest and my favorite sentence that I have recently found or read in any books. It’s a line from the story of O Henry in the short story collection titled “Next to reading matter”

I can’t figure out why I love this particular sentence so much. Probably it could be the length or the words of the message. Here goes the sentence or call it a paragraph in precise.

My spirits sank. I was not there to listen to such a world-old hypothesis – to such a timeworn, long-ago-refuted, bald, feeble, illogical, vicious, patent sophistry – to an ancient, baseless, wearisome, ragged, unfounded, insidious falsehood originated by women themselves, and by them insinuated, foisted, thrust, spread, and ingeniously promulgated into the ears of mankind by underhanded, secret and deceptive methods, for the purpose of augmenting, furthering, and reinforcing their own charms and designs.

Hopefully I find more interesting and beautiful sentences as I continue with the O Henry’s 100 selected short stories, a Wordsworth Classics.

Sakela 2009 was the sakela of my life. I usually keep myself glued to the computer on weekdays. Yesterday was something else, an exception I should say. Meeting people is always a good thing in my case. I met so many wonderful people, even the one whom I hadn’t seen for years.

I don’t want to forget the people that I met on Sakela day so here I am listing each and every single of them:

Suraj from ratopul: we occasionally meet and talk over the messenger. After, more than a couple of month’s gap, we met in person.
Pranita and Binu sis: they are very good and bullying didis, we talk over the phone quite often and it was yesterday that I happen to meet them.
Raja dai: same story with raja dai as well, we talk over the messenger and it had only been a week since I last met him, however yesterday I had an opportunity to meet him again and wander all around the tundikhel, the whole day at least we went for the pee together, every time we had to go.
Asish: a good friend at times when he used to live in lazimpat, we met yesterday after three or four years of gap. A good guitarist he is and I always miss his tunes.

Life is not just about rainbows and butterflies. And at times, it gets pretty ugly when nothing works in your favor only to get fade up off with it. Xenophobia affected as I am would not like to be acquainted with people overseas. My friends are all leaving me all alone in the middle of nowhere. Is that why, I am going insane?

I argue with myself and try to carry on with my life. Luckily I have found some good friends along the way. On the other hand, bad folks around me also have always provided me a lot of inspiration to cope up with the circumstances. Volcanic eruption of frustration takes place within my soul quite often. Every frustration has always ended up in a terrible disaster in my life.

Yet, I am not going to give up that easily. On all such bitter moments, I will be looking for some lessons. Ultimately one day before I die, I would look back and say to myself “At least I tried, I never gave up”.

So Long Broda

My brother is leaving tonight. I am at the office, sulking over not being able to be with him even for an hour. Shall I call it my fate or my unwillingness or obligations? I can at least make a call and talk to him which is the only possible and most appropriate thing for me under circumstances.

I dialed his number and before he received my call, I decided to play the “I’ll be missing you” song and allow him to hear before I start the conversation. I held the telephone’s receiver to the speakers and left it for few seconds. After a half minute or so I greeted him. I said, “Did you hear the song?” and we both burst into laughter. The laughter was the same laughter that we both share on most of the happiest occasions, the same laughter which comes into existence when we poke each other. This particular laughter would remain forever.

He is leaving at around 7 later in the evening. I don’t feel like going to him as I can’t hide my sentiments and I fear I would sob. Sounds funny, but tears and emotions, they’re beyond my tightest grip. Hunger and thirst, I can suppress, but tears, its way tougher than me……………

27th, the day I’ll never forget.

(Right now, amazingly I am experiencing a de-ja-vu, I have at some point faced this particular moment I am not sure whether it happened in dreams or it did take place in reality, strange very strange!)

Waking up early in the morning and logging in to the internet rubbing my eyes is what I normally do. My sixth sense was telling me that, this day was going to be a very beautiful day. There was a recipe in my mail and I am eagerly waiting for the weekend to try out the new delicatessen. But the recipe doesn’t talk about soup and I wonder if the dish is to be served dry.

I had very little work in my office. The whole day was a kind of work free day, played a lot of badminton and perspired a lot after a very long time and most importantly finished the first chapter of “All On Your Knees” a novel by Ann-Marie MacDonald. I have developed an interest in studying and whichever book I find, I garb them.

Today I can leave early. I just received a call from my dai, teacher and mama, in fact I can call him anything because he is the only one who knows me inside out and is always there at my times of troubles, he tells me to be in time for supper.

There’s no doubt, tonight will be a beautiful evening as well. I believe in “happy go lucky”. I started the day in a happy note and so the day obviously has to end in a happy note.

Afraid To Make'em Laugh

Some years back when i worked for a home appliance distributor, i had a very bad experience of making some one laugh. Those days were real monotonous,. it was one fine morning that i made someone laugh until tears rolled down his cheeks,. i was and am never good at telling funny jokes but that was the day i was successful in making someone laugh his heart out.

My jokes are never erotic and i like clean jokes. i had received some good ones in my mail box and was eager to share them with my friends. That was the day, Milan dai who did not have so much of work despite being the most busy staff among us, was simply chatting with me on my desk. I clearly remember his eyes getting wet till tears overflowed down his cheeks with my jokes.

After having some fun, le left. He told me that he would be back after a couple of hours finishing his task in the market. Now i was left alone with no one around. Other fellow colleagues were busy with their own stuffs.

Soon after fifteen minutes or so, i got a call. The voice on the other side just said samundra vai and no more words and it was milan dais. I returned his call only to hear someone else picking up the phone. The person told me that milan dai met with an accident and is unconscious. Can you please hurry up, we are at gwarko.

I could not believe what i was hearing. There was another good colleague named rabindra dai who was doing his own things on the next floor. I called him and told him to go to the site immediately as I was unable to leave the office. He too obediently kicked his bike and left.

After this particular incident, I always dread making milan dai laugh. After a very long time, in fact more than two years or so, we are meeting again in a couple of hour's time. And the place we are meeting is at that very place gwarko.

This particular quote from Niel Armstrong has made a very strong impact on me. I have always believed in this quote. After a long time, I am feeling very good at the moment. It was just a call which made me more than happy. For the one at the other end who might think that it was just a telephone call, but for me it was what is making me feel so goo. Though the conversation did not include serious talks, still it was the only thing which brought happiness in me.

When the good gets going, it goes. I heard another good news regarding my uncle but I don't like stating it here. Another one which made me feel good tonight is, I met a special person after a very long time. The last one which made me feel so good is that, I overcame my previous month's online earning and it is the highest earning so far in this year.

Every now and then I try to change my daily activities and yeah, to some extent I did something completely out of my normal doings. After waking up at around 7 I had a small conversation with a sister (she is in fact a great person and always supportive and motivating). Got up from the bed and drank my tea. I turned on my music and it was blink 182 today. I jumped up and down to its tune and started getting ready to head to my work place.

As I crossed the Kamaladi street, I saw a large number of students from various schools marching which was causing an obstruction to the traffic. I had to wait until the march pass ended. This kind of march pass is quite frequent in the streets of Kathmandu and this time too I thought it was some kind of protest or some awareness raising campaigns. And when all the students had almost completely crossed me I saw a student holding a placard with Bhanubhakta’s picture in it. I then realized that it was the day when Bhanubhakta was born. Ah! So it’s Bhanubhakta’s birthday, and it was my birthday as well. I had never ever put my birthday in my mind and I was in awe. There was a band playing tunes to the songs that Bhanubhakta wrote and I was in bliss listening to tunes of such patriotic songs.

In the office I tried keeping myself free from gloom and sadness. I successfully did it and what a great way to start a new year with joy and happiness around.

After the office hour, I went home as it was raining and I was completely drenched. Changed my dresses and headed towards Budhanilkantha. That’s the place where I go when I felt too happy or too sad. I had a very wonderful day today. Everything went my way. Today being a new year's eve all the colleagues left the office premises a bit earlier than usual.
